July - August 2012
I have been practising yoga for over ten years initially studying with an Iyengar teacher. Then in 2005, I discovered the method taught by the Inner Yoga Trust which is similar to the Scaravelli approach. I have since trained with the Inner Yoga Trust and become a yoga teacher, teaching both adults and children in the community, in schools, adult education centres and at festivals. I believe yoga should be part of mainstream education and taught regularly to young children. I am currently writing a Children’s Module for the Inner Yoga Trust.
I enjoy all aspects of yoga, the philosophy side as well as the breathing, meditation and asanas and I feel it follows on from the movement therapy work I did prior to that as the idea that the mind and body are connected runs throughout both ways of working.
I have recently qualified in Pregnancy Yoga and Thai Yoga Massage and I am currently studying yoga therapy and working on a one to one basis with people who have more specific health issues.
The yoga that I teach is suitable for all abilities to help you find unity and balance in your life. It is a deep yet gentle way of working the body to create space in your joints, bring life to your spine and develop a wonderful sense of being more connected to the earth.

Before becoming a yoga-teacher, Ruth (born 1960 in Hamburg, Germany) studied social sciences and worked till the end of 2004 at different places in leading positions. She realized that many things in society called social are not social at all for the people involved. 2005 became a turning point in her life. She concentrated on studying and teaching yoga. Grounded on the mental heritage of Sri Aurobindo (1872 – 1950), one of India´s greatest yogis and spiritual teachers Ruth assimilated techniques and methods of other yoga-traditions – for example Yogi Bahjan, Sivananda, Iyengar, Desikachar. Finally all paths of yoga want to reach the same goal. In this way she creates her own lessons which might help people to become more aware of their body and hold it agile, to relax their mind and to come to an inner silence for meeting the Self. This is what Ruth´s yoga is for – in between a lovely surrounding to become more conscious, sensitive and respectful with someone´s Self, in relationship with others, for the nature and the Devine. Come, see and let you to be touched by practicing yoga - asana, karana (static position and dynamic movements to loose, stretch and strengthen the body), pranayama (feel and work with the breath) and dhyana (meditation) – the path to holistic health.

Fran Thornton
Fran was first introduced to yoga in 1992. She began to study different types of yoga Aad found that people with little knowledge of yoga think they have to be fit to do yoga but the gradual practice of the different aspects of yoga gives a balance to body mind and spirit.
Her style is gentle and is a combination of Hatha, Raja, Sahaja, and Yoga Nidra as well as Gigong and Taichi, with affirmations of change and self healing. She finds that a good combination and variety to cater for a wider range of ages and abilities.
When she first started to be involved with yoga she was looking to inprove her own health and understanding of life. Her passion is now to teach it to others so they could benefit too.
